This week has been so chilly for July in NYC, so with the temp finally reaching 80 deg. yesterday, I decided to brighten things up with a dress from my favorite recent designer collaboration – Victoria Beckham for Target!
When celebrities and major fashion houses partner with retailers at down-to-earth prices, it’s like Christmas morning for the fashion-lover and bargain-hunter! Occasionally, these collaborations can also bring back terrifying survival of the fittest flashbacks of Black Fridays past, but if you plan ahead to look for certain pieces you’d like to buy, or cross your fingers for returns and shop late (my usual plan of action), they can be a great way to become acquainted with brands and designers you may otherwise only admire from a store window.
Here, my thoughts on the best collaborations of 2017 (so far)!
Favorite Collab of 2017: Victoria Beckham X Target
Though the Lilly for Target sale of 2015 was certainly one to remember, I found that the prints and styles of the Victoria Beckham for Target collaboration earlier this year targeted (no pun intended) women with a wider range of styles. Of course I loved the preppy prints and woven eyelet pieces from the Lilly Pulitzer collaboration, but not everyone is into the “Where’s Waldo?” of bright animal prints and nautical themes. The VB for Target line offered plenty of styles, prints and – most importantly – sizes (!!!) that could fit and appeal to just about anyones personal preferences and needs.
The VB x Target line was released back in April and sold out quickly, but if you’re up for some strategic shopping, you can still track down many of the best pieces from the collection! Sites like Poshmark & eBay have plenty of styles available (many still new with tags), so get shopping!
Collabs Without Foreseeable Expiration Dates: Tommy x Gigi
Last year, renowned designer, Tommy Hilfiger, partnered with supermodel, Gigi Hadid, to develop the exclusive Tommy x Gigi collection… and it’s pretty amazing. The designs take the classic American style the Hilfiger brand has long been known for and update it with a bit of younger, flower child flare, totally breathing new life to the brand.

Shut-the-Front-Door-Can’t-
When I heard about this upcoming collaboration, I immediately put several reminders in my calendar for late-October. After falling in love with their vibrant, feminine florals and classic silhouettes as seen on Kate Middleton, Miranda Kerr and Alexa Chung, I’ve been completely head over heals for the brand! Given the November timing of the collab release, I imagine we’ll see a TON of gorgeous prints in warm, cozy holiday styles.
